“Well I'm a-gonna raise a fuss, I'm gonna raise a holler
About workin' all summer just to try to earn a dollarSometimes I wonder what I'm a-gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues”~ lyrics from “Summertime Blues” by Eddie Cochran & Jerry Capehart
Click here for a circa 1958 YouTube version of Summertime Blues by Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Eddie Cochran who died in 1960 at the age of 21. According to the Hall-of-Fame, Cochran “perfected a sound ... that featured driving acoustic and electric guitars, handclaps and tambourines, and lyrics that unerringly expressed the alienated teen mindset” (I'd say they express the middle-age mindset as well).
*The word estival means “of, relating to, or appearing in summer.”
